The Day Nursery or Bloomington Settlement House was part of the progressive movement in Bloomington, led by the women of the city to bring needed services to the West Side of Bloomington. Here the city nurse, Mary Lenahan, is weighing babies, as she did twice a week at the Day Nursery. She was available to the mothers for questions about baby care and feeding. (April, 1939) At this time the Day Nursery had been in existence for about thirty years. The room the nurse is using was an all purpose one, as we see a small piano in the room as well.
