Mrs. Roy H Houston took the train from Maroa in Macon County to Bloomington just to see Miss Grace Rochet married to Anthony Hall. But she was not there to wish Grace well. Grace Rochet was, as the Pantagraph put it, a pretty young girl, who had tempted Mr. Houston away from his family. Grace and Roy Houston had left Maroa two weeks earlier and he had not been heard of by his wife again.
The sting was that Grace was marrying Tony Hall and even though Grace had spurned Roy, he was still sending her money. And as if her acceptance of this money was not enough, Tony had asked Mrs. Houston for money to tell her where her husband could be found!
Mrs. Houston took her cause to the Bloomington police, who caused Tony and Grace to give up the money that had been sent by Roy and then issued a warrant for his arrest to the address where Roy could be found.
Tony and Grace promised to only do what was right from that date forth were allowed to go on their way. We don't know what happened to Mrs. Houston and her little child, but I hope they had a happier life after this episode. Mrs. Houston had certainly shown that she had determination and bravery on her side!
Update: (2/29/1916) Mrs. Roy Houston travelled to Indianapolis in the company of her brother in law to find Roy Houston. She had learned where he lived (probably from Tony and Grace) and confronted her husband in his rooms. He repented and expressed a desire to return to his family. He was an engineer with the railroad and they planned to move to some other, unnamed city to continue their lives away from the current notoriety.
