1931 Post Office

In January, 1931 the stresses of the Depression were being felt by many families in McLean County. A new post office was being built on East Street across from the City Hall and 200 men lined up to chase the possibility of a paycheck. The men are in front of Carnahan's garage at 207 E Washington Street.

The accompanying article assured the public that the men who needed the job the worst -- the men with large families -- would all be from Bloomington.
