The Little Lamb Who Wouldn't

Emery Stephens of Hudson had an orphaned lamb in 1941, so he took it into the house and bottle fed it for several weeks. When he walked to town he would let the little lamb follow him -- it was fun he thought. But when he decided that it was time for the lamb to join the other sheep and be a sheep rather than a pet, Mary the sheep didn't cooperate. She was "stuck up" and refused to stay in the sheep pen. One night she butted her head against the door until she tore the screen out of the door. What was a farmer to do?
