Henry Schmidt, Edgar County
Henry Schmidt came to Illinois in 1895 and lived with the John Morris family. He was the only boy in the family. In 1900 he attended school just 4 months of that year, but the daughters of the home attended school 9 months (school was available). Henry's parents were from Germany, but after coming to Illinois, he was known as Smith.
In 1910 Henry was married to Pearl and they had three children. Henry was working as a farmer, but did not own a farm. In 1920 Henry and his wife had moved to New York, where he was working as a longshoreman. Their three children were all living in New York as well. The family could not be traced after 1920.
