Annie Evans, Kankakee County
Annie Evans, although she had a warm home to live in, still pined for a family that loved her. She found a husband of her own in 1898, when she married William Duane. At that time the names of her parents were recorded: George Evans and Annie Arnott. Annie and William moved in Los Angeles, California, where they had two children, William and Blanche. William first worked as a blacksmith in a power house in Los Angeles (1910) and then as a gas station salesman (1930). William died in 1935 and Annie died in 1944.
In 1940 Annie lived with her daughter Blanche, who was divorced. The 1940 census shows the education received by each person. Annie had received her education up to the first year of high school. Blanche had completed high school and was a private secretary in the municipal court.
