James McCall, Fulton County
James McCall was listed as one of the Asylum boys who served during the Spanish American War. He served with Battery H of the 2nd Artillery. He came to Illinois in 1885 and possibly settled in Fulton County, for that was where he led the remainder of his life.
In 1900 and 1910 he lived with Joseph and Rachel Howard in Astoria, Illinois. In 1900 Joseph Howard was listed as a butcher and in 1920 James was working as a butcher in Astoria and was married to Cora. They lived together with her son Ralph Shawago, and in 1930 with her daughter Justine Shawago in Pleasant, Illinois. He died in July of 1963 in Ipava, Fulton County.
