Margaret Allison, LaSalle County
Like so many of the orphan train riders, Margaret Allison made a very faint impression in recorded history. The 1877 Annual Report contained several Visiting Agent reports which suggest that Margaret was sent to Lasalle County. The report referred to an interview with Mrs. Butters, who was the assigned guardian of Maggie. Maggie had just two years of indenture to serve, and then was free to work for wages.
By 1880, Maggie was living with a nearby neighbor, John N. Lee, who was a merchant in the town of Freedom, Lasalle County. Maggie was a servant in his home. No further report could be found of Maggie Allison.
