The Ellsworths

Oliver Ellsworth (1811 – 1871) was partners with Lewis Bunn in the plow manufacturing business and later was partners with Abram Brokaw. Their business gave employment to as many as twenty men in the 1870’s. He was a Yankee and came from Connecticut with his brothers, John and Charles, who remained bachelors all their lives. Charles followed the trade of cabinet making. Oliver married Adaline Hayes and they had two daughters together. Neither of those daughters lived to adulthood. Oliver also had four sisters, including Eunice, who  married his business partner, Abram Brokaw.
