Residents of State, Moore, Olive & Kreitzer
These streets of the neighborhood hold several interesting bits of information. Before building the Ewing Castle, Davis and Hazel Ewing owned and lived in a house on Olive Street. Dr. Perry Noggle on State Street may have lived as a young man on Grove Street with his parents, Christian and America Noggle. State Street had the first neighborhood grocery stores. David Law, a street car conductor, was the subject of an Evergreen Cemetery Walk and his biography is available on the McLean County Museum of History's website. Mr. Law was involved in a fatal street car accident, and the victim in that accident, Harry Ryburn, had lived on Kreitzer Street. Florence Killion and Mary Stubblefield, both of State Street were sisters and the daughters of James and Minerva Welch. Their sister, Nellie Cavender, did not live in FG until the 1940's, when she lived on Grove Street.
