This website was created for my own enjoyment and for the enjoyment of the wonderful people who live in my neighborhood of Bloomington, Illinois. The Neighborhood Association was instituted in 2001 by an interested group of neighbors and continues today with happy hours, bake sales, concerts, parades, ice cream socials, and neighborhood beautification. The neighborhood association website is at www.fgna.org.

 

I will continue to build this website to include the homes built after the 1914 plat, probably based on a google map. No information about living residents, aside from myself, will be featured on this website. If you have information about a house or past resident of the neighborhood, and it fits into the general framework of the website I will be very happy to feature it. 

 

I hope that people seeking information about ancestors will find interesting information here, but this information is of a very limited snapshot in time, and based on city directories rather than real estate records or other official records. Identity of World War I veterans has been confirmed with the published record in McLean County in the World War and the US Census records of 1900 to the best of my ability.

 

Besides working as a librarian, I am a volunteer at the Stevenson-Ives Library at the McLean County Museum of History.
